Welcome to the Sarah Thorne Theatre Club, a CIC company. This is an exciting new venture in association with Hilderstone Adult Education Centre, Broadstairs. The Sarah Thorne Theatre Club has been formed to present quality professional plays and theatre to East Kent and beyond, at the 200 seater Memorial Theatre, in St Peters Road, Broadstairs.
As ex staff members of the Theatre Royal Margate, we know that professional drama will still be welcomed in Thanet and East Kent. Our ambition is to concentrate on productions that will not conflict with other theatres in the area.
Initially all the team are volunteers to keep costs down and we will seek both sponsorship and other fund raising methods to re-equip the lighting, sound and other theatrical equipment at the intimate Memorial Theatre.
We have been bringing back to the area, producers and companies that should already be familiar to Kent audiences, including Michael Friend Productions, Rumpus Theatre Company and Chalkfoot among others. We will also be continuing to run music concerts in conjunction with Broadstairs Folk Week and several other special events. It is also our intention to repeat our successful Summer Repertory Season, plus concerts, recitals and other events that will assist with the Adult Education Movement.
The cast of Talking Heads, part of our Summer Rep Season 2008, are joined byaward winning actress and film star Brenda Blethyn who visited us at a performance.
